Should you recycle your social media content?

Crisp Apple 'Mega Mondays' 678x452 recycle your social media

Do you find that creating social media content is time-consuming? If you have ever wondered if it would be okay to recycle some previously posted content, then you are in luck. The short answer to that is YES.

Repurposing social media posts

Think about your social media feed. If you had to remember a specific post from the day before, would you? Probably not. Coming up with new posts, content and images is a time-consuming exercise and most of the time they just disappear into the ether.

How many times have you seen a post for something come up in your feed that you might recognise but not actually know what it is for? You might need to see a particular post come up multiple times until you even read it let alone remember it.

So don’t be afraid to repost, recycle and repurpose any of your content, because it is going to take a good few hits before someone really takes it in.

Driving engagement with social content

If you had a post that you thought was good, but didn’t get any real engagement, repost it. Try to post it at a different time with a different image and add a new headline or emojis. You might find that the second or third time around it was a hit. It wasn’t that your content wasn’t good, or that people weren’t interested in what you had to say, they might not have seen it.

Recycle social posts into stories

Pushing posts into stories can extend the reach of your post long after it has been posted. Save them in your highlights reel and keep updating the highlight reels so that the content has lots of activity and stays fresh. Every couple of months, push an old post back out into a story, pin it into a highlight reel and keep updating as you go.

Schedule poor-performing posts

If you have a handful of posts that just didn’t land, try to use a content scheduler like Content Studio that will use an AI algorithm to identify the best time and platform to push the post out, to get maximum engagement. Test, rinse and repeat.

Social media doesn’t need to take a lot of your time to be effective, raise awareness and drive engagement.  Get some social media branded templates designed for you and keep your branding on point. Have some posts professionally written for you and create a content bank that you can use to schedule content in advance.
